Grassroots football is about far more than goals, trophies, and league tables. At Wey Valley FC as it should be at all clubs, it is about helping young players grow in confidence, develop their football abilities and experiencing the joy of being part of a team. Behind every training session and every matchday is a group of dedicated volunteers who give their time to make those moments possible.
As our club looks for new opportunities grow, we are now looking for new coaches and volunteers who want to play a part in shaping the next generation of players at this club.
Few things compare to the feeling of watching a player improve week after week. A child who once hesitated to receive the ball suddenly shows confidence. Small moments of progress often lead to big boosts in confidence and big smiles on the players faces.
Most coaches will tell you, the greatest reward is seeing the pride and happiness on a player’s face when something they have practiced finally clicks. Those moments stay with young players and coaches for years.
Community football clubs simply cannot exist without volunteers. Every training session, every fixture, and every team depends on people willing to give a little time to support young players.
Teams need coaches to run sessions, volunteers to help organise matchdays, people to support with administration.
By bringing more people into the club, we can provide better support, create new opportunities to benefit everyone and reduce the overall time each volunteer needs to spend by delegating responsibilities.
Volunteering at Wey Valley FC offers a chance to become part of a community that cares about developing young players both on and off the pitch. Once you register interest, we will be in contact to discuss the ways you can help and work out a plan to get you involved as soon as possible. We will of course support you along the way, utilising the extensive experience our volunteers already have.
No Experience Required
You do not need previous coaching experience to get involved. Many of our volunteers begin simply by helping out with a team and gradually learn more as they go.
Wey Valley FC will look to support all volunteers with guidance and development opportunities, including funded coaching qualifications and support on administrative tasks. You will also be part of a supportive group of coaches who are always willing to share advice and experience.
Whether you are interested in coaching, assisting a team, or helping the club in other ways, there are many ways to contribute.
